Palo Alto Approves Townhouses

At 2100 Geng Road, east of Highway 101 in Palo Alto, 165 townhouses are slated for development through the Builder’s Remedy. The homes would be in approximately 65 three-level buildings and include surface parking. The property’s prior uses included four separate office buildings.

In approving the project, Palo Alto council members listed various concerns about mobility and transportation connectivity. While they noted it had freeway access, there was much concern about how children and families would cross 101 to get to school. There are two pedestrian overpasses, but they are several blocks away. It was also noted that East Bayshore was not an overly pedestrian or bicycle-friendly road. Ultimately, the council approved the project but asked the developer and planning staff to come back with more information on transit connectivity.
