Mountain View Approves Townhomes

515 N. Whisman will soon be the site of a 195-unit townhome community in Mountain View. Council members voted 6-0 to approve the project, with 50 of the units being reserved for below-market-rate housing (BMR). The former site consisted of two large office buildings and surface parking lots. In approving the project, some council members expressed reservations that the project should have been denser and included a greater unit count.

The units will be three stories high and will be spread across 30 buildings at the site. There are expected to be several three-bedroom options with two-car garages for families.

In helping sell the project, the developer, Stonelux, noted that the 50 BMR units will more than double the amount of affordable ownership units in Mountain View.
